Fox News is reporting that Pope John Paul II has returned to Gemelli hospital. They're calling it a relapse of last months very serious illness. That was much more serious than anyone realized at the time. Last time the Pope was taken to the hospital, Inside the Vatican magazine reported that the Pope was "10 minutes from death."
Let's all pray for John Paul and the Church. The man can't live forever and whoever takes the job from him will have a lot of work to do. I'm just jaded enough that I don't really expect a new Pope to clean up the Aegean stables that is the US Catholic Bishop's Conference, but I'd settle for any action at all.
